Portugal Digital Nomad Visa
The Portuguese Digital Nomad Visa is for Remote workers and it can be applied without a Job offer from Portugal.
This Visa is valid for one year and can be renewable for five times. During the one year, you can travel to most European countries on that Visa.
D8 Type Visa: Processing Time 60 days Max.
- Long-term visa – €90 -4 Month Extendable 2 years & plus
- Temporary stay visa – €75 -12 Month Extendable 1 Years & plus
Family Members:
- €254 per underage & €380 per adult family member for financial requirements.
Requirements:
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a contract for remote or freelance work.
- Receive a monthly income that exceeds €3,548.
- Have secured accommodation in Portugal.
Documents Required to Apply:
- A valid passport.
- Two passport photos (sized at 4.5X3.5).
- A bank statement demonstrating a monthly salary of €3,040.
- A bank statement confirming a minimum balance of €36,480.
- Documentation of tax payments or tax refund vouchers.
- A NIF registration certificate.
- The NIF number is issued by the tax authorities of Portugal. You must pay an amount of €6.80 to get NIF
- If you are a non-resident of Portugal
It is possible to apply for the number without physically being in Portugal. In that case, individuals can get a temporary NIF number from a representative or a Portuguese lawyer who they appoint as their proxy. The temporary number will be replaced by a permanent one after a few months or after the individual is a permanent resident in Portugal.
- Proof of remote employment – work contract or partnership agreement.
- An English-language letter outlining your reasons for relocating to Portugal.
- Valid health insurance coverage in Portugal.
- A police certificate translated into Portuguese to verify a clean criminal record.
- Either a Portuguese lease agreement or evidence of property ownership in Portugal.
- Proof of your flight ticket to Portugal.
- Documents demonstrating your family relationship (if you choose to bring family members).
How to Apply:
- Fill in the application form. You are required to complete the application form,
- Schedule and attend an appointment with a Portuguese consulate.
- Pay the digital nomad visa fee. You must pay the application fee of €75 if you apply for a temporary stay visa. If you apply for a long-term visa, you must pay a fee of €90.
- Travel to Portugal. If you’ve applied for a long-term (Residency visa) following approval of the digital nomad visa, the consulate will arrange an appointment with the Immigration and Borders Service in Portugal (SEF). During this appointment, you must submit the same documents as you did at the consulate, along with a fee of €170.
- Obtain the residency card. Once your application has been processed, the card will be sent to you via postal mail.
